About

We buy the log. We also slice it.

Silvestryn Trade LLC does not own forests and does not run a sawmill. What it does own is the decision chain: we buy against your specification in West Virginia and Ohio, grade it ourselves, and — for veneer — slice it ourselves in Türkiye. Being precise about which parts of that we control is what lets us be precise about what we can promise.

Company in brief

Who Silvestryn Trade LLC is

Silvestryn Trade LLC is a United States hardwood exporter headquartered in Miami, Florida. It operates in three places: the Miami head office handles commercial terms, contracting and export documentation; buying and grading run out of West Virginia and Ohio; and a slicing operation in Türkiye cuts face veneer from the company's own logs. It does not own forest land and does not run a sawmill.

Logs, pulpwood and chips are bought against a written buyer specification from American mills, loggers and landowners, graded and tallied at the concentration yard, then loaded through 8 Atlantic and Gulf ports. Sliced veneer loads from Turkish ports. All three lines ship worldwide; Europe, Türkiye, India, Middle East are the lanes with repeating volume rather than the limit of where cargo goes.

What we are

The value is in selection and execution, not in owning trees.

The American hardwood resource is enormous and overwhelmingly privately owned — hundreds of thousands of separate landowners, thousands of mills, and an inventory that has been growing rather than shrinking for decades. That is a supply picture no single company can own its way into.

What it rewards instead is knowing which yards hold real veneer grade in which month, who will actually hold a tolerance, and which port gets your cargo moving fastest. Concentrating the buying in West Virginia and Ohio is what turns that into knowledge rather than guesswork.

Veneer is the one place we go further than selection. Logs we bought and graded are shipped to our own slicing operation in Türkiye and cut there, so the face a buyer receives traces back to a grading decision we made ourselves. Everywhere else, we say plainly what we are: an exporter, accountable for grade, documentation and delivery.

Where we buy

West Virginia and Ohio, principally.

Species, colour and grade availability shift by region and by month. A specification that is easy in February can be impossible in July, and knowing that in advance is most of the job. Concentrating the buying in two states is what makes that knowledge worth anything.

West Virginia

Core

Our principal buying ground. Slow-grown Appalachian white and red oak — tight rings, dense late wood, and the reason European veneer buyers ask for Appalachian material by name.

Ohio

Core

The second half of the core. Black walnut and northern-tier oak out of the Ohio valley, bought log by log where colour and butt-log character decide the price far more than volume does.

Great Lakes

Red oak, hard maple and ash where a specification calls for them. Cold-climate growth produces the pale, even colour that veneer buyers pay for.

Southern states

Mixed hardwood pulpwood and chip volumes, taken where the fibre economics and port access work together.

How we work

Four commitments we are willing to be held to.

  • Quote what we can hold

A price we cannot deliver on is worse than no price. If the season, the diameter or the volume makes a specification difficult, we say so at enquiry stage rather than discovering it after you have planned production around us.

  • One grade standard

Veneer parcels are not padded with sawlogs to make a volume. If we are short on grade, the parcel ships short or ships late — those are the only two honest options.

  • Paperwork is not an afterthought

Legality and plant-health documentation is assembled with the cargo, not chased after it sails. It is the cheapest insurance in the entire transaction.

  • Stay on the file to discharge

Our involvement does not end when the bill of lading is issued. We stay reachable until the cargo has cleared at destination, which is when most questions actually arrive.

Working with Silvestryn

What a first enquiry looks like.

You do not need a finished specification to start. Most first conversations are a buyer describing what their mill runs and us telling them what the American market can realistically supply against it, at what time of year.

  • 01Tell us the product line and species, even approximately
  • 02Give us a destination port and a rough monthly volume
  • 03Name the Incoterm you normally buy on, if you have one
  • 04Flag any certification or documentation your market requires
  • 05We come back with what is realistic, and what it costs
